► The base of percentage is always 100.



Example. Income of Chirag is increased by 40%



Which Means.



100% – represents the income of Chirag



40% – represents increment on the income of chirag



140% – represents the new income of Chirag.





► How to Denote x/y in terms of percentage :

As we know that x/y = (x/y× 100 )
Thus 1/8 = ( 1/8 ×100 )% = 12.5%
and 0.5 = ( 5/10 ×100 )% = 50%



► If the price of a asset increases by X%, then reduction in consumption as not to increase the expenditure is-
[ X/(100+X)×100 ] %
► If the price of a Asset commodity decreases by X%, then the increase in consumption as not to decrease the expenditure is –
[ X/(100-X)×100 ] %
